Detroit-based Commodity Sourcing Group wins Transportation Services Contract from Henry Ford Health System.

Detroit-based Commodity Sourcing Group awarded Transportation Services contract from Henry Ford Health System.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Detroit-based Commodity Sourcing Group wins Transportation Services contract from Henry Ford Health System.

DETROIT--August 5, 2002-Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) announced that it has awarded a multi-year Transportation Services contract to Commodity Sourcing Group (CSG) for the management and administration of its current in-house transportation and courier system.

A considerable factor in the award decision is that, currently, Commodity Sourcing Group, with its strategic partner, Hospital Distribution Solutions (HDS), manages the transportation, distribution and desk-top delivery of forms, printed material, and linen requirements for HFHS. Because of CSGs system-wide knowledge and familiarity with our hospitals and satellite locations, their participation and evolvement on a more comprehensive scale just makes sense," said Michael F. Whelan, System Vice President for Integrated Support Services.

Winning the Transportation contract is crucial to us in our overall marketing and merchandising plan intended for HFHS. Transportation is pivotal because its the ultimate centralized distributive solution from which other business opportunities will arise," said Darryl R. Hart, President and CEO of CSG. All of the services that we execute for HFHS, from forms administration, to warehouse and pick&pack services, print shop and commercial print management, linen, and now total transportation and courier services, collectively become the custom 'omnisourcing solution that weve created for HFHS. This is the quintessential example of our business model in action."

In addition to the existing transportation and distributive activities now being performed by CSG, new services will include transportation of time-sensitive materials like X-rays, specimens, medical records, etc. The incorporation of all these functions will eliminate redundancies while increasing operating efficiencies. All transport and courier vehicles from the existing system will be absorbed by CSG and an on-going re-fleeting program will be installed on a continuum. Full-time employees from the existing transportation and courier service will be offered accommodation and engaged by CSG.

HFHS will realize, at least, 10% overall savings in the first twelve-month period by adopting this omnisourcing solution as well as significantly increase its direct minority supplier spend.
