LOCAL WOMAN REJECTS NEGATIVE TEEN IMAGE
Turning thirteen and being in the seventh grade is much harder than Rachael Miller expected, especially when the entire town of Austin thinks sheÂs crazy because she talks to her twin sister, who happens to be dead.
Explaining that her sister is a guardian angel is almost impossible, and until Rachael meets Margaret Berman, itÂs a whole lot easier to let people think sheÂs nuts! Rachael and Margaret have both lost someone very close to them. Neither thinks she will ever be truly happy again, but when fate brings them together they find out that friendship can heal just about anything, even a broken heart.
This is the story of From Heaven to Earth -- Angel Eyes by Miriam Hees, a 128- page novel for readers ages 8-14. It deals with issues of peer pressure, life-changing choices, first loves, self-esteem and the loss of loved ones. At the same time the story takes a break for laughter, practical jokes and good-natured fun.
ÂThere are not many ways for parents to shield their children from the destruction they see around them, and maybe they shouldnÂt, said Hees. ÂBut not everything in todayÂs world is bad. There are people out there doing extraordinary things. There are kids who are making a difference. Whether through books, teachers, parents or peers, the message is going out. When kids are pushed in a positive direction, great things happen.Â
Hees is a 4th generation Texan who has dedicated her life to her family and to all children, through her books. Angel Eyes is her first published book in a series. The next one is called Angel on My Shoulder.
From Heaven to Earth  Angel Eyes is available for $5.95 US / $7.95 CAN - in most bookstores and on-line at http://www.bloomingtreepress.com.
