o3sis Mobile & Wireless Technology Framework 3.1 -- The key to flexible business models for mobile network operators
The o3sis® Management Console and the direct integration of applications enable o3sis customers to provide new value-added mobile services
Overath -- o3sis® Information Technology AG has released the new version 3.1 of their software based on the o3sis Technology Framework used by mobile network operators and other companies. In addition to SMS, the new version supports messaging via WAP Push and an automated e-mail collection service for an unlimited number of e-mail accounts. Significant additions to the integrated o3sis® Wireless Organizer ensure seamless, interactive connections between popular desktop office applications and the mobile Personal Information Manager. o3sis® Content Adaptation gives more than 300 different end devices unrestricted access to information via mobile networks and the internet.
Thanks to the latest version of the o3sis software, mobile phone operators can expand their mobile data and communication services and put together interesting offers for their target groups. The o3sis® Management Console was developed specifically to enable mobile phone operators to quickly introduce new, demand-oriented value-added services for growing business needs and to develop new business models.
The functions of the underlying mobile applications for Personal Information Management - or PIM for short -- were expanded specifically with the needs of professional business users in mind to include active value-added services such as incoming e-mail notification via WAP Push and alarm features for calendar entries. The seamless integration of various information sources such as e-mail with the address book and calendar makes navigation simple and therefore facilitates the use and introduction of additional products. One of the challenges of marketing mobile services is to raise consumer acceptance by making products extremely user-friendly. With this in mind, o3sis® has developed the integrated menu generator used to pre-configure application interfaces for end-use devices and thus make smaller displays in particular easier to operate.
In addition, o3sis® provides an innovative client version under the trademark XPAnywhere® for desktop-to-mobile components. Here, the software is installed on the desktop and inserts itself into the existing office software components using add-in technology. The server for mobile data is thus available immediately and can be used to upload and download files. Furthermore, available contact details, calendar entries and categories can be synchronised bi-directionally with the server for mobile access. This product is, of course, delivered to network operators as a white label product for resale.
Extremely user-friendly integrated services are the key to the success of mobile business.
Network operators have recognised that professional users want mobile data and information exchange services which increase both corporate productivity and their personal efficiency. Ever since it released the first version three years ago, o3sis® has carefully analysed consumer acceptance of the service and continually improved its user-friendliness. This ongoing development and feedback from an enormous pool of users shows how mobile applications are accepted and used. Users must be offered practical functions such as integrated, easy access to e-mail, address books, calendars, documents and files. These must be optimally presented and available for all available end devices. This is provided in an ideal manner by the o3sis® Content Adaptation components.
