BRIGADIER GENERAL RETURNS FROM CALL OF DUTY TO SISCO
West Palm Beach, Florida, August 8, 2002 -- The up-and-coming Access Control Company, SISCO (Security Identification Systems Corp.), welcomes Brigadier General Kenneth P. Bergquist back from active duty in the United States Army. Bergquist, whose specialty is counter terrorism, is excited to be part of SISCOs executive management staff now that the demand for homeland security intensifies. General Bergquist is particularly excited about SISCOs latest development, FAST-PASS which he deems to be a long needed solution that addresses the credentialing and tracking of individuals entering our Nations buildings. FAST-PASS is SISCOs high-speed photo visitor and employee control system that offers instantaneous features such as: photo capture, drivers license -- passport or id scanning, biometrics, barcode, mag-stripe and smart card capability. Prior to his recall to active duty, Mr. Bergquist was Vice President for Operations and General Counsel for SISCO.
Immediately following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, General Bergquist was assigned for four months as the Special Operations Staff Director at United States Central Command in Tampa, Florida. In this position, he was responsible for managing Unconventional Warfare operations in Afghanistan and for effecting the interagency coordination necessary for the ultimate defeat of the Taliban and Al Qaida forces. He was also responsible for the preparation of daily briefings for the Secretary of Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff on the overall Special Operations campaign in theatre.
Incorporating his skills into all facets of his career, Mr. Bergquist has combined a military and federal service career. He spent two years of combat duty in the Republic of Vietnam and Cambodia as a highly decorated Infantry Officer and later service as a Paramilitary Officer with the Central Intelligence Agency. He was Legislative Counsel on the personal staff of Senator Alan K. Simpson and later was appointed as Chief Counsel and Staff Director of the Veterans Affairs Committee of the United States Senate. When President Regan was elected, Mr. Bergquist served as Deputy Assistant, Secretary of the Army, Deputy Assistant Attorney General, Assistant Secretary of the Navy and finally as Associate Coordinator for Counterterrorism at the Department of State.
Mr. Bergquist holds a law degree, with honours, from the University of Texas in addition to a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Stanford University. He is also a member of the bar in both Florida and Virginia, having litigated in both federal and state courts.
