ARE THE KEEPERS OF THE SHROUD HOLDING BACK THE TRUTH?
An American scientist in 1982 performed an unauthorized test on a thread taken from the Shroud. His test proved the samples came from two different eras. Why does the church want to keep this information secret?
In 1978 scientists involved in the unprecedented Shroud testing were required to sign an agreement; they could not perform any tests without church authorization. In 1982 an American scientist performed an unauthorized test on a thread taken from the Shroud. His test proved the sample came from two different eras. At first unaware of any agreement, he later was told to keep his results quiet. In a new article, M. Sue Benford and Joseph Marino disclose his research and other data that reveals that the sample acquired and dated in 1988 was part of a medieval patch used to mend the Shroud. The actual Shroud may originate in the 1st century.
Benford and Marino have spent years studying the significance and the scientific background of the Shroud of Turin. They have repeatedly contacted church authorities with their findings, without a response, as yet. Why does the church want to keep this information secret? Benford and Marino believe we need to decide for ourselves what the Shroud says to modern humanity. They further suggest that the message of the Shroud proves that our physical lives are greater than the limits of our beliefs. M. Sue Benford states, I am a scientist first. However, I have dedicated myself to this research because I believe the Shroud proves we are spiritual beings having a physical experience." Benford and Marinos new article will be published on www.Shroud.com by August 16th.
While we may never know whose image is etched upon the ancient linen, one fact remains clear; the man in the Shroud experienced something 20th century science has failed to explain. The remaining image of a man revealed on the Shroud leaves us wondering about many unsolved mysteries, i.e. how did this happen, and what is his message? When solved, this puzzle (of The Shroud of Turin) may...identify the elusive 'missing link bridging the seemingly disparate worlds of science and spirituality."
