"Seniors want to be healthy and to live independently as long as possible. This book tells how to do just that!"

The Wisdom To Choose, by Dixon Arnett and Wende Dawson Chan, will guide anyone, regardless of age, to a quality of life that is both rich and rewarding. It is a source of information on life-style, healthy aging and social services that can help seniors live as independently as they want as long as they can, free from hospitals and nursing homes.

Although written for seniors, The Wisdom To Choose also informs family members and caregivers about the choices our elders have----including, their choices about death and dying.

The Wisdom To Choose is filled with resources and references on everything from diet and exer-cise, to "spiritual eldering," to finding a nursing home with a nurturing environment and congenial surroundings. It affirms the value of the nations elders by inviting choices elders themselves may not know they have, but that they certainly have the wisdom to discern.

Authors Dixon Arnett and Wende Dawson Chan are uniquely qualified to write this book. Mr. Ar-nett capped his 30-year public policy career as Director of the California Department of Aging, the largest state unit on aging in the nation. Previously, he served as Deputy Under Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services as a California State Assemblyman.

Wende Dawson Chan is serving her third term as a member of the federally-mandated Advisory Council to the San Francisco Commission on Aging. She served three years as an Ombudsman for a program of the Older Americans Act, and for decades has been a volunteer in a variety of pro-grams for the elderly, from advocacy for nursing home residents, to hospice care.
