Summer Fling: Local Artists Unite For CHOICE

Planned Parenthood Los Angeles brings together local musicians, clothing designers, and dancers to celebrate fashion, music and Choice

     LOS ANGELES -- Planned Parenthood Los Angeles (PPLA) in conjunction with ThinkTank Productions and D&D Productions will present a concert/fashion show, "Summer Fling: Local Artists Unite for CHOICE," on August 17, 2002 at the Troubadour in West Hollywood. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m.

     Summer Fling will showcase talent from local musicians, local fashion designers and dancers. The night will start out with a fashion show featuring AfriWear's Active Inneractions, designs by Desiato, Kornbread, and a safe-sex dance performance by Santa Monica Dance Studio highlighting gear by High-Way 69. The Active Inneractions and High-Way 69 designs include a convenient condom pocket with condoms provided by PPLA.

     The night will feature an eclectic mix of musicians with styles ranging from surf, pop-punk grooves and alternative power chords to hip-hop jazzy riffs and drum and bass dance beats. The Summer Fling line-up includes L.A.'s legendary Neptunas, ThinkTank, Abstract Original, StarCrasher, and club favorite DJ Peter Ward will close out the night with dance re-mixes until 2:00 a.m.

     All proceeds from Summer Fling will benefit Planned Parenthood Los Angeles. The money will help PPLA fulfill its mission to provide easy, affordable access to a full range of quality reproductive health care and sexual health information through patient services, education and advocacy.

     Tickets are available in advance with a $10 minimum donation or $15 donation on day of show. For ticket information call PPLA at 323-223-4462 x3157.
