DUPONT CELEBRATES 200th YEAR ANNIVERSARY
WITH TREE PLANTING PROJECT
DuPont recently marked its 200th year anniversary worldwide with a renewed commitment to environmental stewardship. The company together with the Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems (MCME) recently conducted a tree-planting project at the Mt. Makiling Forest Reserve in Laguna.
DuPont recently marked its 200th year anniversary worldwide with a renewed commitment to environmental stewardship. The company together with the Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems (MCME) recently conducted a tree-planting project at the Mt. Makiling Forest Reserve in Laguna.
The tree-planting project is in line with the three-year memorandum of agreement DuPont signed with MCME to provide support in preserving Mt. Makiling. The MCME is an institute at the University of the Philippines at Los Baņos and has developed programs focused on the conservation and development of the forest reserve.
DuPont, popularly known for products such as Lycra® and Teflon® resins, has long believed in preserving the environment and natural resources areas, especially in communities where it has industrial facilities. Since the early 1980s, DuPont and its subsidiaries (which includes seed company Pioneer Hi-Bred International), has donated or placed into permanently protected status" 60,000 acres (more than 24,000 hectares) of land worldwide for conservation.
