INNOVATING BRACKNELL FOREST CHOOSE SIEMENS

TECHNOLOGY innovator Bracknell Forest Borough Council is to expand pilot trials for hot desking and home working, following its decision to invest in a new Realitis DX communications server from Siemens Communications.
The council, which is at the forefront of pioneering several technology initiatives including e-Government and Smartcard-based services, is to begin its pilot next month across several departments. The new 7.1 software from Siemens will also give the council the potential for other technology in the future, such as the adoption of IP and call centre working.
"Here at Bracknell Forest we are in the forefront of new technology and the Realitis DX upgrade will allow us to implement new flexible working methods for our staff and also open the door to further developments in the future," said the council's Communications Manager Adrian Buttree.
"While our council area is not large geographically, we have more than 3,500 staff and many of them travel long distances in order to get to work. The trials will let us see how home working and hot desking can benefit our staff and the council get more from its communications infrastructure. Our partnership work with Siemens has already paid dividends by allowing us to drastically reduce our office accommodation footprint by adopting new ways of working using Siemens technologies".
Bracknell Forest, whose slogan is "The Borough of Opportunity", has a turnover of 150 million and handles five million enquiries from the public each year.
"Practical convergence is happening now and Bracknell Forest is both protecting its investment and opening the way into new services by adopting 7.1," said Kester Blaize, Sales Consultant, at Siemens Communications.
