According to a recent Harris Poll survey of patients, "almost all (90%) of those online (the 66% of all adults who are online from home, office, school, library or somewhere else) would like to be able to communicate with their physicians online. More than two-thirds of them would like to be able to do each of the following: ask questions where no visit is necessary (77%), fix appointments (71%), refill prescriptions (71%)" ("Patient/Physician Online Communication." The objective is to cut down on office telephone calls and to enable medical office staff to handle routine requests in a timely and efficient manner.

Patients have four options:
1. Request an appointment for an office visit
2. Request a drug refill prescription
3. Send an e-mail
4. View an appropriate medical site of the physician's choosing

The e-mail feature is a one-way system that does not reveal the e-mail address of either party. This does not preclude e-mail exchanges but does not require or create the expectation of them either.

With Patient-Website, for a very low cost, providers can have a web presence without the hassle of maintaining and updating a website. For providers who already have a website, Patient-Website may be integrated with their site. No advertising is carried on the site.
