Dallas, TX (August 2002) - Lisa Brittain loves paper. As a former print journalist turned VP of Marketing and Communication for the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce, the thought of giving up a paper newsletter for the chamber's 5,500 members seemed almost sacrilege. That was until she looked at the numbers. It turns out, it was costing Lisa's department more to just label the newsletters than creating the entire e-mail newsletter online with the help of eNews Builder.
"Over the past year, since we've gone fully electronic with our event bulletins and newsletter communications; we've saved $50,000 in printing and delivery costs alone," said Brittain.
It's stories like these popping up across the country as more and more organizations, forced to cut costs and under pressure to produce more, realize the hidden value of eNews Builder.
"Before we were blast faxing our members, which was expensive for us and bothersome for our members, which is never a good thing," said Ken Heiman, Director of Communications, San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce.
To date, eNews Builder services some 1,000+ clients, and the number continues to grow.
"We've got clients from Fortune 500 companies to non-profit organizations to small businesses using our on-line service. With industry leading technology and a highly experienced support department, we are able to assist our clients in establishing a customized look that is so easy, anyone can produce a colorful, interactive eNewsletter," said VP of Sales & Marketing Chris Donald.
While many might think there is a resistance among membership to "go e," many say think again.
"Our members love the quick, up-to-the minute information in the online version of EveryMonday," said Orlando (FL) Regional Chamber executive Amy Edge. "We've still got about 2,000 email addresses to trap of our 8,500 members, but with a telemarketing campaign set for the beginning of 2003, we should have everyone accounted for," added Edge.
What's more, rather than dropping a paper newsletter in the mail and wondering whether it went right in the trash, eNews Builder users are able to track individuals' viewing habits and generate statistical reports on what's hot, and what's not. Clients can even run surveys and polls with detailed reports on the feedback.
"We found a perennial favorite is the New Member List, as our veterans are prospecting from it. We considered eliminating a warm and fuzzy section titled 'VIPs doing VIP Things,' only to find out through our online eNewsletter that it was the second most popular feature, so we are really able to better serve our members' interests," added Lisa Brittain.
Another advantage eNews Builder clients say is that it takes this online communication from a cost center to a revenue source. "One ad and it's paid for, two ads and we're generating revenue" said Lisa Brittain, of the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce.
So what about support? "These guys have written the blueprint for customer support." says Ken Heiman "As a non-profit most of us have to wear many hats, and the eNews Builder system is easy to use and the training was excellent."
