'OUR FASCINATING EARTH UPLINKS TO PUBLIC TELEVISION
Boulder, CO August 2002 -- 'Our Fascinating Earth, the pilot for an educational television series about natural science, was uplinked to 320 Public Television stations nationwide on July 18th, 2002. The program was made available as an interstitial package that included the entire 10-minute pilot as well as individual segments.
'Our Fascinating Earth was produced for the Fascinating Learning Factory as an example of the programming that would be available in the television series. It is based on the series of books and newspaper columns authored by Philip and Nancy Seff that cover virtually every discipline of natural and earth science. The segments in the uplinked program include 'Petrified Lightning, 'Galloping Glaciers, 'Cave Flute and two short bumpers about whale sharks and Mt. Kilauea volcano.
Each individual station will have the option of how to use these short programs, but in all likelihood they will be used between longer programs.
There is a terrible shortage of high quality educational programming for middle school age students in America." says Bunnie Strassner, Executive Director of the Fascinating Learning Factory, 'Our Fascinating Earth is the first in a series of programs designed to fill that need. These shows are educational first, but also entertaining and relevant to their intended audience. Our viewers will be engaged and encouraged to learn more about the topics we present. "
Fascinating Learning Factory is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation that seeks educational programs for development and oversees their production. There are currently five series in development.
