INTERNATIONAL LITERARY GROUP SEEKS PERFECT AUTUMN POEM"

Expressions Literary Society announces start of Perfect Autumn Poem" Contest; free contest open to all with $500 book shopping spree as first prize

NEW YORK, August 21 -- Today Expressions Literary Society (www.expressionsliterarysociety.org) formally announced the beginning of its Perfect Autumn Poem" contest. Running until September 20, 2002, the contest seeks fresh, original poems describing the autumn season from around the world. The Perfect Autumn Poem" contest is open to anyone, anywhere provided the poem is written in English, is 100% original and submitted in time for the September 20 deadline.

We are looking for poems that capture the essence of autumn," explains Albert Nicolas, founder and President of Expressions Literary Society. Autumn is a time filled with meaning and emotion. It is a period that lends itself perfectly to poetry, whether one is describing the beautiful changes in nature or musing on the myriad events that occur as summertime shifts into autumn."

Participants in the contest are encouraged to explore any aspect of the autumn season. We are hoping for a large variety of poems," added Nicolas. Im sure we will see poems about going back to school, Halloween, the raking of leaves and the shortening of the days."

The winning entry will be determined by the ELS Editorial Panel and judged on the following criteria: originality, style, content, emotional impact, and/or word selection. The winning poem will be announced on September 23, the first official day of the autumn season. The winner will have their poem posted on the Societys home page and receive a gift certificate worth $500.00 for use at Amazon.com.

While participants are free to use any style they like -- haiku, limerick, blank verse, etc. -- poems must adhere to the following submission guidelines:

- Maximum length of 200 words
- Written entirely in English
- 100% original

Established in the spring of 2002, Expressions Literary Society has members from nearly a dozen countries who all share the same passion for literature and the written word.
