AMERIX ANNOUNCES 32 BIT EISC BASED
HIGH PERFORMANCE SPEECH PROCESSOR

Santa Clara, CA. (August 12th 2002)-Amerix Group, Inc., a Santa Clara based System on Chip (SoC) developer, announced its first EISC based microprocessor, MUSE. Amerix has been developing EISC based SoC since its strategic alliance on March 20th with AD Chips Inc., the original EISC architecture developer based in Korea.
MUSE, an ADPCM speech processor, is based on 32 bit EISC(Extensible Instruction Set Computing) architecture which enables a complex programming of various speech applications. It also integrates ADPCM decoding engine, 2KB SRAM, 12bit DAC, timer, memory controller, serial interface, and interrupt controller.
MUSE adopts G.726 ADPCM Vocoder of ITU which enables up to 40 kbps transfer rate for high quality audio & speech. Coupled with 32 bit microprocessor and up to 2 hour's memory capacity per bank, MUSE will address high end audio/speech processing market.

Some of the advantages of MUSE would include;

  • 32-bit high-end performance with low-end cost
  • cost-saving design by using boot program and sound data together
  • Programming with high level language such as C
  • Up to two hour memory capacity per bank

Amerix also announced the first customer of MUSE is WISEtech, Inc. (Korea) a 'read-along' book developer. The company is actively seeking partners in the related industry such as interactive toy, interactive book, telematics, etc.

Samples of MUSE, high performance speech processor are available now. MUSE is accompanied by a complete suite of reference designs that provide manufacturers with all of the hardware, software, and manufacturing collateral necessary to begin immediate production of retail product.
