"The control of color and the vibrancy of the projection is a main reason to go digital. I can shoot on 35mm and yet achieve a subtle play of luminous intensities that film is resistant to. The quality of the 16 bit sound is more suitable for the concert hall environments, which have better sound systems than most movie theatres. That's why we are playing in cultural centers and auditoriums where sound is a major consideration."
Kuksu follows the story of a young woman in the early 20th c who goes on a journey to seek a spirit guide. Her adventure begins to affect all those around her as other are drawn into the wilderness after her. Things are revealed to be not what they seem as Kuksu unfolds to reveal it's astonishing revelations.
"There is a liquid, evolving quality to the digital image that defies the attempts we make to contain it. The only course is to allow the forms to flow into one another, and reveal the resonating secrets they have to offer," Says Babakitis. "We have yet to probe these sumless treasuries."
