FORT WORTH, August 23, 2002 - The Nolan Catholic High School Science Department announced the addition of their newest educational tool: the Mobile E-learning Cart, providing state-of-the-art equipment to further integrate technology into the curriculum. The cart contains 16 IBM ThinkPads, power chargers, and a wireless internet hub. It represents a $30,000 technology investment into the educational needs of the school. The Mobile E-learning Cart has class and laboratory applications and since the cart is mobile, it can be used by all of the science classes. The cart will be used to take the classes and labs to an advanced level, while still being able to show students the simple relationships between accelerated science and real-world applications
The Environmental Science students can simply remove laptops from the cart and then conduct an on-line search for current environmental issues for a class discussion. The Physics and Chemistry classes can conduct labs using various sensor interfaces that can be connected to the laptops. Many opportunities now exist for all Nolan Catholic science students to achieve a higher level of e-learning.
