SACL Engages Honeywell to upgrade Security System at Sydney Airport's Ansett Multi-User Domestic Terminal
Sydney, Australia - 22 August, 2002,- The Service business of Honeywell [NYSE:HON] Automation and Control Solutions today announced that it has been awarded the contract to extend the state-of-the-art security system at Sydney Airport into the former Ansett multi-user Domestic Terminal.
The contract, awarded by the Sydney Airport Corporation (SACL), encompasses the replacement and upgrade of the full access control system including a digital Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) System, Honeywell Digital Video Manager (DVM) and will utilise the existing ATM network infrastructure in place in the terminal.
The new system, when installed, will link the former Ansett Domestic Terminal to the Honeywell security network currently shared by the International Terminal, the airport carparks'and common areas within the site, making it one of Australia's largest access control and surveillance systems. "The addition of the former Ansett Terminal security system to our existing system will significantly increase the overall efficiency of airport security and surveillance," said Russ Lewis, chief information officer, Sydney Airport. "The Honeywell security system will enable us to have the highest level of co-ordination of security guards and provide timely response to incident reports."
Honeywellˇ¦s industry leading Enterprise Buildings Integrator (EBI) solution will provide the flexible architecture and ease of installation required to migrate the existing system in a seamless manner and ensure that the installation meets the tight delivery timelines. EBI is a technology platform that integrates all core building systems and subsystems, including security, digital video surveillance, access control, life safety, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC). It provides a single point of access to all information and resources and is the platform currently in use in the other SACL facilities.
"Honeywell is pleased to continue its partnership with SACL to undertake the security system upgrade at the former Ansett Domestic Terminal," said John Rajchert, general manager, Honeywell Advanced Solutions, Asia Pacific. "We are pleased to be associated with one of the world's best practice and most technologically advanced airport security and surveillance installations."
