New Play by ANDY SHREEMAN unites 8 cities on SEPTEMBER 11th 2002

Los Angeles, CA...Award-winning producer and acclaimed performance artist Andy Shreeman tackles the tenor of terrorism in her newest play, In Flight. In Flight will be publicly read as part of ART PARTY 911, an event to celebrate the healing power of art, on Wednesday, September 11th, 2002 at MINDFIELD in Marina Del Rey.

ART PARTY 911 is the brainchild of Andy Shreeman who has been writing, performing and producing for over a decade. She produced Dutchman at Theatre at the Improv, winner of four LA Weekly Awards and wrote, produced and performed Bambis Box at The Santa Monica Playhouse, hailed by Entertainment Today as one of the top 5 productions in Los Angeles for 2001.

All the Art Parties are different. Austin takes place in a theater, Philadelphia a private home, Atlanta in a watering hole and in LA were designing a warehouse space to feel like a living room. Some people are having straight readings with Q&A, some will fundraise for their theater and here in LA were featuring several visual artists and musicians as well. The connective tissue is the play, and the intention; that everyone will be gathering with friends to celebrate the healing power of art."

In addition, the evolution of ART PARTY 911 is being videotaped in all locations. Tapes are mailed to Los Angeles on September 12th as part of a co-creative documentary to be edited by Big Lick Films, Inc.

"In Flight", the play, is the story of MARIE, a flight attendant, and CARLY, an out of work bus driver, who meet at Philadelphia International Airport the day the airports reopen after 9-11. Their loneliness and fear converge in an impulsive and passionate love affair carried across the Atlantic to the beaches of the Spanish Mediterranean.

In Los Angeles, Carly will be read by Andy Shreeman and Marie will be read by Cheryl Dooley (Sight Unseen, McCadden Theatre; Head Games film dir. Daniel Bernstein; member PRT). Other featured artists include Gao Trance mixer Dj Baba G, sculptors Ray Duque and Andee Eve Husney, painters Jesse King, Nancy Preston Ranyard and Elgee Tavanlar-Amato and photographer Sean Kiel.

Other participating cities include Vancouver, Portland, Austin, Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York and Paris.
   
ART PARTY 911 happens Wednesday September 11th, 2002 at MINDFIELD in Marina Del Rey, 4221 Redwood Avenue. Parking is free in the lot, enter from Glencoe Avenue.
