MD Robotics automates their Baan Purchase Requisition Process by the rapid implementation of EZ-Workflow
Global manufacturer of Advanced Robotic Systems implemented DynaFlows EZWorkflow
in May 2002, to control and streamline their purchase requisition process in
Baan IV.
Montreal, Canada -- August 25, 2002 -- DynaFlow Inc., leading provider of Business Process Management solutions has announced that MD Robotics, global provider of Advanced Robotic Systems have gone live with its EZ-Workflow solution. By workflow enabling their existing purchase requisition process within Baan IV, MD Robotics enable all aspects of the purchase requisition processes to be managed in one online
environment.
MD Robotics, a subsidiary of MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates (MDA), has earned an international reputation for developing advanced robotics systems for space and terrestrial applications. MD Robotics is the developer and manufacturer of the Canadarm for the Space Shuttle and has developed sophisticated robotic systems, critical to the assembly, maintenance and servicing of the International Space System (ISS).
MD Robotics experienced an increasing need to better control their purchase requisitioning process. In the past, MD Robotics processed several thousand Baan IV purchase requisitions per month, manually handling the approvals of each of these requisitions. Because of strict industry regulations, all requisitions need to pass several budget and quality approval levels, based on customer program, requisition type and
amount. The paper process did not allow accurate and easy to access status visibility of specific requisition approval, created costly delays and provided poor history/auditing of approval information.
EZ-Workflow is configured to meet the specific requirements of each business, placing MD Robotics in a position to improve transparency and monitoring control of all purchase requisitions entered in Baan IV. With the browser-based EZ-Workflow solution, MD Robotics now monitors and gives requisitioners and Managers control over each of the Baan IV purchase requisitions, helping to insure that all involved parties are provided with all the information that they need. All transactions and status information can be handled and viewed on any web-browsers, allowing even employees at distant locations or Managers on travel to still participate in the process.
Pierre Beaulieu, President of DynaFlow adds: MD Robotics is now able to route all Baan IV requisitions to the right persons for approval. For each requisition, EZ-Workflow is automatically sending e-mail notifications to the approvers, based on dynamic criteria such as requisition types and amounts. From their web-browser, these approvers can view the requisition, approve or reject them. EZ-Workflow then acts upon this approval feedback, routing the requisition to the next person in the approval process or to the appropriate Manager in case an approval exception needs to be resolved. When the approval cycle is completed, the buyer and requisitioner are then automatically notified to trigger the Purchase Order creation."
Since the implementation of EZ-Workflow at MD Robotics, several benefits can be easily identified. Karen Howell, IT Manager, adds: tangible cost reductions are now possible
due to the automated control and online monitoring of our purchase requisition process. In
addition to an approval cycle being executed much quicker, MD Robotics have enhanced significantly the quality of the approval process by the dynamic routing of approval notifications to users, the electronic signature capabilities and the real-time tracking of all requisitions. No more costly delays, mistakes and lost of paper requisitions".
EZ-Workflow is part of the EZ-Process Suite of internet-enabled solutions, combining proven Business Solutions & Technology to enable customers to take significant steps towards seamlessly integrating their Process Management system. EZ-Process also contains modules enabling Process Modeling, BPR analysis, Process Optimization, ISO manuals automated generation, Process Publication and Knowledge Management.
