With the current trend toward vacationing close to home and air travel substantially down, the site offers visitors the ability to virtually browse and shop in Massachusetts without leaving home. Goods from a wide range of local companies, craftsmen and artisans are available for worldwide delivery. Products include Nantucket Lightship baskets, pottery, art, collectibles, games, books, furniture, photographs as well as local foods including lobsters, candy and farm products. Each product ships with a booklet about the history and legacy of Massachusetts.
The state has become a popular vacation destination, especially with visitors from the UK, Ireland, Scandinavia and from across the US. Its rich heritage includes sparking four revolutions. The American revolution started with the "shots heard 'round the world" at Concord on April 19, 1775. The US industrial revolution began in Waltham with the power looms of Francis Cabot Lowell. A high technology revolution was kicked off with Alexander Graham Bell's telephone in Boston. Most recently, the biotech revolution was seeded here with landmark research at MIT, Clark and other local institutions. With this backdrop of revolution, Massachusetts has become famous for everything from baked beans and lobsters to Patriot missiles and the 2002 Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots football team.
