FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BROADALBIN, NY
The first rough cut of the first part of a new documentary about
September 11, 2001 is now finished.
Over the last year Dave Wallin-Eddy
has been working on a project, interviewing people and collecting
materials, and is still still doing so. As there has been interest in
showing at least part of the project for various memorials and tributes
Wallin-Eddy is allowing this version to be used and shown. Although it
really is only half of the film it covers the events of September 11,
2001 and contains interviews with six people who were involved with the
events in New York City on that day.
From the first attack on the World Trade Center to the last minutes of
United Flight 93 to the collapse of buildings in lower Manhattan "The
Box" is an account of the events that unfolded that day and a lasting
tribute to the people who perished and to the survivors whose lives
would be forever changed.
FDNY Firefighter William Green takes viewers through his morning with
Engine 6, to the World Trade Center as a first responder and then into
the evening at St. Vincent's Hospital as he first learns that it was a
commercial plane that hit the towers and the first clues that he might
be the only survivor from his company.
Volunteer EMT Louis Kunkin discuses responding to assist the first
victims coming from the top floors of the World Trade Center just as the
first tower collapses around him, trapping him beneath the rubble.
Emergency Operations Manager for the NY District of the Army Corps of
Engineers Randall Hintz talks about the sweeping feeling the Federal
Building might be the next target and the evacuations at 26 Federal
Plaza.
Selina Sprinkle arrived at her job at Trinity Church as the second
attack happened as she discuses emerging from the subway into a world
turned upside down and how she helped to evacuate a pre-school located
inside of the Trinity building. And finally IT Specialist Tim Jervis who
grabbed his digital camera and roller bladed towards the site and NJ
musician John Taglieri whose cousin is the president of
Canter-Fitzgerald.
This "rough cut" version represents only a portion of those interviewed
and really only the first part of the story. As the edit progresses the
rescue and recovery efforts will be included including interviews with
FDNY EMT's, NYPD and Salvation Army members as will as Urban Search and
Rescue members. "This is far from over as far as the final project goes.
This first cut runs a little over an hour and only covers the events of
September 11, 2001." Wallin-Eddy continues "I can see this being over 2
hours, or perhaps in a few parts. My approach has always been a bit
different than just looking for a sound bite. These are people who have
a story to tell and as much as it is like someone else's, they are not.
I could easily edit everyone saying 'The towers fell...it all went
black...there was debris and dust everywhere' but then you loose the
essence of their individual story's."
