CSUDH ALUMNUS GETS POSITION WITH RED CROSS

CARSON, CALIFORNIA
Walter Lopez has been hired by the American Red Cross as the Director of Donor Recruitment. He will co-ordinate blood drives for the Red Cross in the South Bay and South Los Angeles Area. His responsibilities include everything communications with large companies, schools, and community organizations to setting up the Blood Mobile.

Mr. Lopez credits his California State University Dominguez Hills education and his experience with Sigma Pi Fraternity for his success. I learned about communication and organization in classes at the University. The Fraternity helped me put what I learned in to action. I regularly had to conduct meetings, use my people skills, and speak in front of large groups. College taught me what I needed to know, and Sigma Pi helped me develop my leadership skills."

In addition to owning a graphic design business, Lopez is currently working with developmentally disabled children in a Preschool Mix Class for Los Angeles Unified School Districts. The children range in age from three to five years old. It was hard for me to make the decision to work for the Red Cross. I will really miss the kids. But after what happened on September 11th, I started to wonder what I could do to help out. Its really important that we have an adequate blood supply-especially with the possible US military action in the Middle East.
