Hesperia, California September 02, 2002: In a collaborative effort two accomplished American artists, Paul Schenk and Jerry Ridenour, have teamed up to preserve and highlight a critical period in the development of the United States. The last century was one that molded the shape of the entire world and America played no small part in the process. Much of our frontier has only been ?opened? since 1900 and throughout the nation the citizens of those generations are the foundation of what we are today. It is their fortitude and passion that allows us our life and we owe them and ourselves the honor of preserving their landmarks.
This project will encompass many volumes as locations around the country are explored. The first edition will explore the courage and spirit of the men and women that opened the Mojave Desert region of California for future generations.

Hourglass Productions is taking the adventurer on a journey through the memories of people very much like themselves.

future generations know Throughout our life there are certain landmarks we encounter that become important on a level that far exceeds the import that these landmarks would ordinarily possess. It might be a favorite coffee shop, a general store, a general mercantile, and a friendly service station; perhaps a roadside motel
frequented every year on a visit to grandmas. Whatever the establishment the experiences and hence the warm memories, are all pretty much the same for all of us. This book explores many of these locales as they appear today. Some of them are all but forgotten ghosts, standing guard at a once busy, now deserted, intersection. Others are more or less gone, perhaps only a lone chimney suffering the ravages of weather and gravity in a field. In addition to the images of today we are including interviews with local residents and photographs of the location in its hay day, as mush as is possible.

This first edition of this nationwide series tells the story of the Mojave, and the sturdy people that made it their home. This desert has been of utmost criticality to the nation and our fellow citizens are not aware of the enormous contributions the Mojave have made. The unique people drawn to this inhospitable frontier are responsible for much of the allies? success during two world wars and beyond. This is but one example of their role in forming a strong nation.
·   It is the attention of this creative union to give the audience a taste of the great courage, passion, and spirit of these hearty folks.
·   We are including the precious remembrances of the actual heroes that tamed this frontier. As much as is possible we are interviewing actual participants in the history of the Mojave. We travel with these courageous men and women to the various places and locations that witnessed the historical events in the series.
·   From a humble beginning along dirt pathways through to the superhighways of today the land is the same. The homes and businesses that were so important to the attitude and sensibilities of the families and lone men are slowly disappearing into the future. We aim to preserve them so as to ensure that that the battles fought in this land were hard fought and even harder won.
