Houston, TX -- October 22, 2002 -- The 1st Annual Houston SoulFood Comfort-Food Festival, a first for the Houston Area, is a Family Reunion, a Cultural Reunion, Heritage and Social Enhancement. It is an event to start a new tradition, re-enforce an existing tradition or re-new a family tradition of Celebrating Together. February 15, 2003 Greater Southwest Equestrian Center, Houston, Texas
The Houston SoulFood Comfort-Food Festival will embrace Family Unity through a relatively old tradition of Sunday Dining Together". As families gather for traditional and not-so traditional foods, they will have the opportunity to unite with other families and friends.
As with many cultural groups, health, economic, social and government issues take precedent in their success. The festival will provide information to the advancement of similar goals shared. Festival Features will include:
   Traditional Family Dining Setting
   Health Screenings including Diabetes and Hypertension
   Testing for Socially Transmitted Diseases
   Local and Area College Admission Representatives
   Educational Skills Improvement Workshop
   Voters Registration On-Site
   History through Cultural Music and Entertainment
   Fun and Games for Children of all ages
   Family Interaction Games and Activities
All SoulFood Restaurants, Southern & Cajun Restaurants, Sweets & Treats and Caterers are invited to Exhibit and Sell at the Festival
Creating Excitement, Creating Fun, Creating a Prosperous Community, This is the Mission Statement for The Houston SoulFood Comfort-Food Festival.
