Akron Area Couple Enjoy Hobby of Lighthouse Collecting and Painting
Local artist turns hobby into enterprising opportunity. He paints lighthouses and personal homes on medium of choice.
Akron, OH - September 2, 2002 - Bob and Joy Quinlan are quite the lighthouse admirers. Amidst having lighthouses on most of their home furnishings, Bob paints them on everything from the patio window glass to the kitchen waste container that he built himself.
Bob is a local artist that enjoys painting sea scapes. He has painted quite a few lighthouse scenes for friends using their personal home for the lighthouse keeper's home. It makes for a very unusual scene. One recipient was quoted as saying, "I always wanted to live by the ocean and I can't think of anything better than in a lighthouse!"
The newest addition to Bob's paintings are homestead paintings. People who want to retain the memories of their childhood home submit a photo to Bob for him to capture the scene on canvas, slate, or an old piece of wood or stone taken from the homestead. It makes for a lovely memory.
