in the UK, has announced the launch of a new 16 bay RAID system, which -
with a capacity of 3.2TB - is the market's largest 4u system designed for
Storage Area Networks (SAN), Server or Direct Attached Storage (SAS/DAS)
applications.

16-bay, 3.2 Terabyte RAID System
Fibrenetix, one of the largest independent manufacturers of RAID solutions
in the UK, has announced the launch of a new 16 bay RAID system, which -
with a capacity of 3.2TB - is the market's largest 4u system designed for
Storage Area Networks (SAN), Server or Direct Attached Storage (SAS/DAS)
applications.
The AT-1600U3, is a SCSI to IDE RAID system (with an optional Dual Loop
2Gbit Fibre Channel host) and is the latest addition to the ATLANTIS RAID
product range.
Jes Nagel, Managing Director of Fibrenetix, said "The new 16 bay product
combines high storage capacity with cost effective Ultra DMA technology,
which at 4000 per Terabyte, or 4 per Gigabyte confirms its position as the
market leader."
Technical Director, Dennis Hicks added "Offering multiple RAID function
support for up to four Arrays, which is also fully supported in Multiple LUN
and Dual Host configurations, the AT-1600U3 provides unbeatable RAID
performance. For example, one fully populated unit can have six drives set
to RAID 0+1 for video streaming, nine drives set to RAID 5 for database
files and one hot spare drive - enabling a tailor-made RAID set-up for
optimum performance."
For enhanced reliability and performance, it has a distinctive and
innovative cableless design - so that all components are attached directly
to the backplane. It has also been designed for simple maintenance with near
to Zero-Downtime.
The AT-1600-U3 comes in a 19" Rackmount format, with 128MB of cache as
standard and 16x drive bays providing up to 3.2 Terabytes of storage (using
the latest 200GB drives).
The new product provides support for RAID levels 0, 0+1, 3 and 5 in order to
satisfy most common set up requests. The AT-1600-U3 also boasts a 64bit high
performance RAID controller.
In addition, the GUI-MAN software makes it easy to set up and provides a
versatile monitoring system that alerts administrators to any system
irregularities.
Dynamic RAID expansion makes it possible to add or replace drives without
downtime. Hot-swap components include the PSU's, Fan's and HDD's.
The AT-1600-U3 is totally OS independent, so no drivers are needed and
long-term return on investment is safeguarded.
