Driehaus Capital Management to hold Third Annual NYC Press Briefing, Investing in Volatile Times: The Long and Short of It," on Tuesday, October 1, 2002, at 8:30 a.m., at Le Cirque.

With the turbulence in global markets, domestic consumer confidence showing signs of flagging, and tech still a wreck, small wonder investors are singing the Bleak Street Blues" from Wall Street to Fleet Street and beyond. Hard to believe it was just a couple of years ago that investors were asking, How high can we go?" The more realistic question today may be: How should one invest in volatile times?"

Richard Driehaus, CEO and chief investment officer of Driehaus Capital Management, and a team of the firms investment professionals will be on hand for a special breakfast presentation at Le Cirque on Tuesday, October 1, to discuss market trends and what they are doing to navigate market uncertainty and position their portfolios for the recovery.

Doors open at Le Cirque, which is located at the New York Palace Hotel, 455 Madison Avenue, between 50th and 51st Streets, at 8:30 a.m. and the formal program begins promptly at 9 a.m. A Q&A session and opportunity for one-on-one interviews will follow at 9:30 a.m.

Participants will include:

Richard Driehaus -- founder, chairman, CEO and chief investment officer and architect of the highly successful Driehaus aggressive growth investment philosophy -- will present a brief overview of the domestic markets.

Bob Moyer -- president -- will discuss Driehaus Capital Management, Inc., and the firms plans moving into the new year.

Bill Andersen -- senior vice president , chief investment officer/International and portfolio manager -- will present a brief overview of the international markets.

Eric Ritter -- portfolio manager, Driehaus Asia Pacific Growth Fund, co-portfolio manager, Driehaus International Discovery Fund -- will discuss investing in asia.

Jeff James -- portfolio manager, micro cap growth strategy -- will discuss shorting opportunities and how he is applying that strategy in the firms long-short hedge fund portfolio.

Andy Rich -- portfolio manager, small cap recovery growth style -- will discuss recovery growth in the current market environment.

Svein Backer -- assistant portfolio manager, Driehaus International Growth Fund -- will discuss emerging markets.
