Atomz Announces Enhancements to its Enterprise Web Site Management Software
Atomz announced eight new enhancements to its search and content management software, including support for Macromedia Flash content. Because Atomz products are Web-native, enhancements and upgrades are made automatically with no need for software patches or disks.
San Francisco, CA - September 9, 2002 - Atomz, the leading provider of enterprise Web site management software delivered as an online service, today announced numerous enhancements to its flagship Atomz Publish and Atomz Search applications. Atomz is demonstrating its complete suite of Web site management applications at the Seybold Conference in San Francisco's Moscone Center beginning today, in Booth 1025.
The enhancements are the latest in a constant stream of improvements the company makes to enhance the capabilities of its enterprise software products. Last week, the company announced the Atomz VPN Solution, a secure virtual private network offering that complements its already robust and secure application infrastructure. The company also recently announced WebDAV support in its Web content management product, Atomz Publish.
- As a Web-native software provider, Atomz is able to continually identify customer needs and enhance our products literally every week, said Kevin Wallace, Atomz's vice president of engineering. "Our hosted architecture allows us to make improvements to the live, production software as soon enhancements have been fully engineered and tested, meaning customers always have the most advanced features to help them manage their Web site content. Unlike traditional licensed software that requires a series of software patches, upgrades and versions over time, Atomz applications are enhanced seamlessly for the customer, with no disruption to the customer at all. The next time a customer logs in to their account, the latest features and enhancements are available."
Among the many enhancements announced by Atomz today is support for Macromedia Flash content, including Macromedia Flash MX, within Atomz Search. Atomz Search is the first and only enterprise search application that supports the indexing and crawling of Macromedia Flash content and applications.
"By enabling its users to search the vast repositories of information found in Macromedia Flash content, Atomz is providing amazing value to its end users who want to find relevant information quickly," said Param Singh, director of product management, Macromedia. "Macromedia Flash is used by leading websites to deliver rich content, media and applications viewable by more than 455 million Internet users."
Other enhancements announced by Atomz today include:
· Advanced Phrase, Acronym and Synonym Support (Atomz Search). With this new feature, visitors at Web sites that use Atomz Search who, for example, are searching for 'IT' will find 'Information Technology' rather than the word 'it' within their search results. In addition, this phrase and acronym matching works in reverse, so that visitors who search for 'Information Technology' will also find results for 'IT.' Customers simply upload files containing the phrase and acronym matches.
· Advanced Template Management (Atomz Publish). With the addition of the 'define', 'url' and 'non-html' tags, along with content references, the Atomz Publish Template Management System is even more powerful and easy-to-use. Global settings for entire Web sites can be defined within the template system, and industry-standard scripting languages, such as JSP, ASP, ColdFusion, PHP and Javascript, can easily be integrated within Atomz Publish. Rather than having a different template for every slight variation of a Web page's design elements, customers can now create templates that call on customer-defined properties.
· Related Content Display (Atomz Publish and Atomz Search). Customers who utilize both Atomz Search and Atomz Publish can now create content on the Web site that includes dynamic search results. This is much-needed functionality for sites that are trying to maximize the value and relevance of related content. For example, a content contributor could create a new product page on their Web site and, in addition to publishing the details of the new product, include dynamic links to related products. This dynamically-generated, related content utilizes advanced Atomz Search technology working in combination with the Atomz Publish Web content management system.
· Forms-Based Authentication (Atomz Search). Sites that require user registration and sign-in (e.g., a username and password) in order to view Web site content can now utilize Atomz Search throughout their protected content. The Atomz Search application now crawls and indexes this content using form-based and cookie-based authentication protocols.
· Advanced Search Templates Management (Atomz Publish and Atomz Search). Customers who utilize both Atomz Search and Atomz Publish for managing their Web site can now utilize the Atomz Publish interface to update and customize the look and feel of their search results template(s). In addition, customers can have multiple templates for search results within different sections of their site.
· Time-To-Search Display (Atomz Search). Customers that want to display and track the time it takes their visitors to retrieve information on their Web sites can now easily do so with Atomz Search. By adding one additional tag to their search results template, customers can begin displaying this information for their site visitors.
· Media Manager (Atomz Publish). Customers of Atomz's Web content management system will be able to browse within image and media file repositories within the site's content repository. JPGs, GIFs, PDFs, MS Word files, among dozens of other media and business file types, can be linked into Web pages at the touch of a button. (This feature is currently in Beta testing.)
Atomz also said it introduced last week the Atomz VPN Solution to give customers added protection for data that is delivered beyond the corporate firewall. The Atomz VPN Solution integrates easily with any enterprise VPN and leverages industry standard hardware, software and protocols to fit seamlessly into any Web site hosting environment. It combines a dedicated network and application server with powerful encryption and user authentication software, providing customers with the highest level of protection possible for their hosted data and applications.
Atomz's ability to rapidly incorporate product innovations is one of the reasons the company continues to see swift adoption of its product suite. "The company recently completed its strongest quarter on record, with revenue growth of over 36%," said Steve Kusmer, Atomz's chief executive officer and co-founder. "Our products continue to replace expensive Web content management systems and search solutions from companies such as Interwoven, Inktomi, and Verity, as well as 'home grown' corporate systems. The Web-native model is critical to our company's success. This approach to software development and delivery provides customers with higher ROI, a lower total cost of ownership, more predictable cost structures, dramatically improved usability for IT, content managers and Web site visitors, and higher application reliability than traditional server-based models."
Kusmer will be speaking at the Seybold Conference on Thursday, September 12 at 3:30 p.m. in Room 135 of Moscone Center in San Francisco on a panel titled, 'Content Management Vendors.'
