HandStory Releases HandStory Suite 2.2 with Wireless Updating

HandStory Releases HandStory Suite 2.2 with Wireless Updating
New Version Enables Mobile Palm OS Users to Update Web Content Without Syncing
Boston, Massachusetts ? July 29, 2002 ? HandStory, a leading developer of mobile software and services for the Palm OS platform, today
announced the immediate availability of HandStory Suite 2.2, the first version of its award-winning multifunction productivity tool for Palm OS/Windows to
support wireless updating of mobile Web content. With the new feature, users can now update Web clips (downloaded Web content) on their Palm OS
handheld devices through a wireless Internet connection to HandStorys central clip server, bypassing the need to synchronize with a desktop or laptop
computer.
When the user initiates a wireless update, HandStory Suite 2.2 downloads new Web content from the clip server in pre-converted, compressed form for
maximum transmission speed. The streamlined architecture benefits users, many of whom may not have flat pricing for wireless access, by greatly
reducing download times and sizes compared to downloading individual Web pages from source sites. Wireless updating is currently available for the
over 160 content providers listed in HandStorys Clip Service, with more providers being added weekly.
Enterprise customers of the HandStory Server product are also supported by the wireless client software. Clips set up on customers servers are
automatically available for wireless access to end users who install the new client release, with no further configuration.
Wireless access to Web content is fast becoming a killer application for PDAs," said Heungho Park, CEO of HandStory. However, most current pricing
plans make it prohibitively expensive to stay online for any length of time or download more than a few kilobytes. With HandStory 2.2s fast downloading
of compact, pre-converted clips, our customers can take advantage of the timeliness and freedom of over-the-air updates while sidestepping much of
the associated cost."
HandStory Suite 2.2s wireless features support any wireless PDA capable of connecting to the Web, such as Palms i705, HandSprings Treo, and any
Palm OS device equipped with a wireless modem or wireless phone link and Internet access.
Other new features in HandStory Suite 2.2 include support for 320 x 480 pixel screens found on Sonys Clie NR70 and NR70V devices, support for
sending clip definition files to other users by email, and login support for scripted access to password-protected Web content, in addition to numerous
smaller improvements. HandStory Suite 2.2 builds upon the highly-acclaimed features of the 2.1 version, which include direct and script-assisted clipping
of arbitrary Web content, Windows and Macintosh text/image conversion, and a multifunction information browser for Palm OS devices.
HandStory Suite 2.2 is available for immediate purchase at online software retailers Handango.com and PalmGear.com at $19.95 for a single-user
license. Users of the 2.0 and 2.1 versions of HandStory Suite are entitled to a free upgrade; users of older versions can upgrade to HandStory Suite 2.2
for $5. A thirty-day trial version of HandStory Suite 2.2 is also available for download from the HandStory Web site at http://www.handstory.com.
