Paris, France/Atlanta, GA - September 10th, 2002 --. Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) announces today that it has signed an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) partnership agreement with Colubris Networks, a Canadian-based company specializing in local wireless systems for the fast-emerging public Wireless LAN hot spot market.
The agreement reinforces Alcatels strong position in broadband access, with a clear market leadership already established in both ADSL and LMDS solutions. In particular, it will allow Alcatel to serve the needs of mobile operators wishing to complement their GSM/GPRS and UMTS service offerings with WLAN services for specific hot spots. The companies are currently partnering in several opportunities in Europe and Asia.
