4THFRIDAYS WITH RUFUS HARRIS KICKS OFF FALL SEASON

Waterford, MI -- Sept. 12, 2002 -- Contemporary Christian music lovers can enjoy an evening filled with good music, good coffee, and good company at 4th Fridays with rufus harris. 4thFridays will feature a host of local independent artists this fall at its new location - The Ford Community and Performing Arts Center in Dearborn, Michigan

Bridge Records started this Christian coffeehouse in an effort to elevate public awareness of hometown talent. A local artist himself, Rufus Harris felt this would be a creative way to do just that. In the Detroit area theres a lot of undiscovered talent", he says. Many people get discouraged about following through with their gift because there are not enough creative outlets for their craft. 4thFridays is a unique place where talented local artists can share their gift".
.
Located on Michigan Avenue, The Ford Community and Performing Arts Center boasts an impressive 198,000 square-foot facility, is the largest municipally-owned facility of its kind in North America, and offers a year-long calendar of special events. 4th Fridays features vocalists, bands, comedians, artists, and poets. Harris band is the house band and concertgoers have the opportunity to meet and mingle with the all the artists after each concert.

Harris is no newcomer to Contemporary Christian music. A clever writer and fluid guitarist, he has shared stage with notables like the Winans, Phil Keaggy, the Rez Band and many others. He performs at the Festival of Trees Gala -- the largest annual fundraiser for Childrens Hospital of Michigan and works with Chuck Colsons national prison ministry -- Operation Starting Line. His music, which can best be described as a rock and soul fusion, attracts a very diverse audience. Rufus diversity can be attributed to what he calls his formative years growing up in Alaska when there was only one popular radio station. He recalls: I learned to appreciate country, jazz, rock and folk. In Detroit, the Christian music scene is very compartmentalized. With 4th Fridays, its my hope we can bring together and learn to appreciate the diversity thats here."

With the majority of Christian concerts and coffeehouses held at churches, 4th Fridays dares to be different. At the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, attendees can enjoy a coffeehouse-like setting with candle-lit tables, great sound and lighting, and light refreshments at Shields Center Court Café.

4thFridays starts on Sept. 27th at 8pm at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center located at 15801 Michigan Avenue in Dearborn. Admission is $10. For more information, call Bridge Records at 248-886-0881 or email:bridgerecords@ameritech.net.
