FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ithaca, NY--September 11 is declared Patriot Day posts HolidayOrigins.com. Shortly following the terrorist's attacks on September 11, 2001, Congress passed a bill declaring September 11 as Patriot Day. President Bush signed this legistation into law in December 2001.

HolidayOrigins.com added Patriot Day to its extensive list of American holiday origins. "We have Pearl Harbor Day on December 7 so it is only appropriate to include Patriot Day on September 11" says Robert Samuelsen, President of HolidayOrigins.com. "Declaring a national holiday gives Americans an opportunity to memorialize this day in a reverent manner for those who lost their lives and lost their loved ones."

Patriot Day is to be celebrated by flying flags at half mast and pausing for a moment of silence.

HolidayOrigins.com is the Internet's leading resource for holiday-related information.
