Mitch Morrison organized and promoted this timely fund raising event called America's Ride 2002. Hundreds of motorcyclists began their nationwide journey starting in San Diego, California at the Sports Arena September 2, 2002 and ending in New York City on September 11th. Their goal was to raise 25 million dollars to benefit those families, firefighters and ground zero volunteers who have not yet received funds for their involvement in the 9/11 terrorist attack. Riders and supporters gathered at the Sports Arena at 4:00 in the morning to be seen live on Good Morning America, CNN, ABC, CBS & NBC. The donated new fire engine led the way down the freeway at approximately 9:00 AM stopping at various cities across the nation with fund raising concerts along the way. The Will Rogers Band traveled with them to provide a variety of styles of music. A local duo, EAR Candy also performed on the steps of the Sports Arena, lending their support to this good cause. Many thanks to Krispy Kreme who provided free donuts and coffee to the participants and to all of the supporters of America's Ride 2002!
