LOS ANGELES SHOE OASIS OPENS IN THE VALLEY debouts designer shoes unique to LA

LOS ANGELES -- Sept. 16, 2002 --For the LA woman looking for more than the same-old in beautiful, smart shoes, an oasis awaits. From Sigerson Morrison to Leopoldo Giordano, the first fall collection featuring the worlds finest designers of the season is now available at the shoe oasis in Studio City, debout.

When I arrived in Los Angeles, I found a gap between the expensive specialty shoe stores and the humdrum department stores," says debout founder and owner Maria Churchill. With nowhere to go for beautiful, one-of-a-kind shoes at reasonable prices, I opened debout."

Churchill has found that women across Southern California are also eager for the finds she brings back from Paris, London, Milan and beyond. Whether its for Roberto del Carlos boots or a pair of traditional Moroccan slippers, women are finding many of debouts pieces arent available anywhere else in the U.S., much less Los Angeles.

With a clean, vintage modern look as unique as its inventory, debout has an undeniable charm that stems from Churchills long love of shoes. Before fitting her stores first customer, she worked for Levi Strauss and Sam and Libby, and she developed sales relationships with fashion makers like Esprit, Bebe, Fred Segal and hip boutiques throughout San Francisco. With an MBA from UC Berkley under her belt, Maria opened debout in March 2002.
