eFlipping.com is Flipping Out!"
Lawrenceburg, In. Sept 18th 2002 -- If youre among the millions of card collectors around the world, you may want to listen up! eFlipping.com is announcing their Charter Member Card Giveaway. The card giveaway is open to sports and non-sports enthusiasts. Mark Bennett, President and founder of eFlipping.com said, Were trying to not only provide collectors with a unique service, but also keep our hobby fun and exciting for all. We have over $10,000.00 worth of cards set aside to be given away, no strings attached". Collectors interested in receiving a random card need to log onto www.eflipping.com, pre-register for their service and send a self addressed stamped envelope to the address listed. There is no obligation to join. Those who do join through this promotion (or prior) will be designated as Charter Members. As an added bonus, all Charter Members will be automatically entered into the sites first eFlipping Challenge. Two lucky members will go one on one in a best of 7 Flip-off". The winner will receive over $350.00 worth of cards.
Members will be able to flip" cards online in a live, interactive trading game. Flipping cards was popular in the late 60s and early 70s. It was common to gather up your doubles or any extra cards you didnt need and meet your buddies for a friendly game. The first player would throw a card in a flipping motion towards the ground. It would land heads or tails. The next player would call heads" or tails" and follow suite. Whoever matched would win both cards and the round would continue. This game slowly slipped away into the past due to collectors both young and old becoming increasingly picky about the condition of their cards. eFlipping.coms site will be recreating this nostalgic game and hopes to introduce collectors both young and old to the fun and excitement of this retro game.
As most collectors only collect certain players or teams, they often end up with a surplus of extra cards they dont necessarily want. Most of these extra cards end up in storage boxes. Some of them might get sold to a dealer or in an online auction for pennies on the dollar. This clearing house" mentality allows the collector to re-coup a small amount of his or her investment to feed their habit of buying some more packs in search of their specific cardboard heroes. The advent of the Internet has opened up many avenues for this type of target collector. Unfortunately, most of these avenues come with many risks. Most traders are good, honest folks. Some, however, are true thieves or con artists. Distinguishing between the two can be difficult. eFlipping.com requires its members to have a security deposit into its system. Every transaction will freeze a portion of this deposit. If a fellow member ignores warnings and reneges on a deal, the declared value of the transaction will be transferred from his/her account into yours.
Bennett said, eFlipping.com has been in development for over 10 months now. Were real excited to see it all coming together." A seed from God was planted as he was looking through some beat up", old cards he had from his youth. Remembering all of the fun he had as a kid flipping, he began exploring the possibility of integrating todays technology with the retro game. After many long hours of research and development, theyre almost there. The finishing touches are being implemented now. Collectors who have pre-registered will receive an email when the site is fully functional. The new site is hoping to be fully functional by September 30, 2002."Were quite excited to add this much needed service to the collecting hobby. Were also proud to announce our partnership with the Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation. 2% of all transaction fees will be donated to this wonderful organization. Our oldest son was diagnosed when he was four and weve seen firsthand the importance of supporting JDRF", Bennett added.
