Art Books Are Wrong.

Artists first press release. Comments on the sorry paintings at the back of art books. Artists web page.

Art books are funny. Flip through one, and you will see many great paintings. Religious, meaningful, political, personal, and histortic paintings. Stunning realism, exotic expressionism. Now, flip to the back of the book. What happened? It's hard to say for sure. But, it isn't hard to see that either painters have gotten very lazy in the past 100 years, or the book publishers are pulling our legs. How else can you explain the weak, pathetic paintings at the backs of all those art books? Have we learned nothing from the past? Why do modern day artists no longer care to make art? If you paint a rectangle some certain color, then slash in some random lines, it may be interesting and fun to make, but is it art?

Anymore I don't believe it is. I am trying to change the backs of the art books. See more on my web page: www.markbowman.com
