Scientology victim is award recipient

The Dialog Zentrum Berlin (Dialog Center Berlin), part of the Dialog Center International http://www.dci.dk is pleased to announce Keith Henson as the recipient of the collection for victims of Scientology in North America taken at a service held for Lisa McPherson in the Luisen Church in Berlin.

The special memorial service for Ms. McPherson, who died after seventeen days of anguish while locked up and abused by the Scientology organization, was held in Charlottenburg's Luisen Church on September 17, 2000. Pastor Thomas Gandow, Sect Commissioner of the Evangelical Church in Berlin-Brandenburg, delivered a sermon, which detailed some of Lisa's terrible story and the record of abuse, and offered a prayer for her which is transcribed at http://www.lisamcpherson.net / English:

The very generous collection was to be sent to the Lisa McPherson Trust in Clearwater, Florida, to help victims of Scientology's abusive practices in the USA. The funds were transferred in 2001 from the Luisen Church Parish to an account of the Dialog Center Berlin. By the time the funds were to be remitted to the US, however, the Trust had ceased operating, itself a victim of Scientology's crushing legal abuse.

The Dialog Center therefore made the decision to select a victim of Scientology abuses in North America who could be helped with the collection money. The unanimous choice was Keith Henson.

Henson is a victim of many years of Scientology abuse, including the organization's noxious policies and practices of "fair game," [1] "black propaganda," [2] and use of the law to harass and utterly ruin their fair game targets.[3]

Keith Henson is a civil rights activist of long standing. He had never been a Scientologist, but he recognized that Scientology was trampling on everyone's rights, and decided to oppose the secretive organization because of its abuse of members, former members, and those who stand up to its fair game actions. As a result, Henson himself became a target of fair game and a massive black PR campaign, and has been subjected to the organization's juggernaut-like use of the law to harass and ruin him utterly.

Henson was assaulted during his peaceful pickets of Scientology operations, and then charged with assault by the person who assaulted him.

When he made public one of Scientology's bulletins that showed that the organization was engaged in the illegal practice of medicine without a license, Scientology sued Henson for violating its "trade secrets" and copyrights.

By manipulating the US Federal Court into eliminating his defenses, Scientology obtained a judgment against him for $75,000.

This unprecedented monetary judgment forced Henson into bankruptcy, where Scientology again sued him to prevent the judgment's being discharged, and to ruin him utterly pursuant to their litigation policy. Scientology has used the bankruptcy proceeding, which is still ongoing, to harass Henson's family and associates and gather intelligence data to further fair game him.

These tactics brought the bankruptcy judge to comment on Scientology's abusive litigation, including their efforts to get rid of the judge himself.

By Scientology's own admission they have spent 15 times as much on legal fees as they could possibly get out of the bankruptcy.

In 2000, Scientology agents at their armed and razorwire-enclosed Hemet, California compound, where Henson frequently picketed against organization abuses, framed him with false testimony, and pressured the District Attorney in Riverside County to charge him with terrorism, attempted terrorism and interference with a religion. Abetted by the prosecutor and the judge, Scientology was able to eliminate Henson's defenses, deny him any witnesses, get him falsely convicted on the "interference with a religion" charge, and sentenced to a year in prison.

Henson was not even permitted to tell the jury why he was picketing the compound -- that two more young women died there --Ashlee Shaner on May 17, 2000 and Stacy Moxon on June 26, 2000.

Because of this patently unjust conviction, and because of threats to his life if he ever entered the US prison system, where Scientology has a large number of personnel and considerable influence, Henson fled to Canada and applied for political asylum. In Canada, the Scientology organization has been convicted of breach of public trust, for infiltrating and stealing from several government agencies, including police departments, and is widely known as a criminal enterprise.

Even in Canada, however, Henson has not been safe from Scientology's fair game tactics. Further false reports from Scientology agents precipitated his violent takedown, along with Canadian civil rights activist Gregg Hagglund, next to the main doors of an Oakville, Ontario shopping mall by a machine-gun armed Oakville Police SWAT team.

Since his release, Scientology and its agents have continued their fair gaming of Henson, recently sending a pack of black propaganda to Canada's Minister of Citizenship and Immigration. It is clear that Scientology is working to get the Minister to act on their behalf against Henson, to adopt their black PR rhetoric, and to personally oppose his asylum application.

Keith Henson has been a dedicated activist against Scientology's abuses for many years. He has perhaps picketed the organization's operations more times and in more locations than any other Scientology opponent. He has participated for five years in the Lisa McPherson Memorial Picket, an annual protest and vigil at Scientology operations world wide, which this year is set for December 7.

Henson is an active and greatly appreciated contributor to the Internet newsgroup alt.religion.scientology, where much of the on-going opposition to Scientology's antisocial policies and practices is coordinated. An article he wrote on the evolutionary origins of human vulnerabilities to cults was recently published in the online academic journal *Human Nature Review* (http://humannature.com/nibbs/02/cults.pdf) under the title "Sex, Drugs, and Cults."

Keith Henson is truly a Scientology victim, but a victim who refuses to be victimized. Through years of fair game and abuse, and even through years of Scientology-orchestrated persecution supported by parts of the American justice system, Keith has retained his love of country, his humanity and his great sense of humor. Lisa McPherson could not have a better person than Keith to carry on the opposition to the organization's inhuman practices, which tortured her and cut short her life, and we could not have a better recipient of this substantial collection taken in her name and memory.
