Velocite Systems Adds CENATEKs Rocket Drive to its GSA Schedule
Solid-State Disk (SSD) Part of Expanded Federal Offerings
Velocite Systems today announced the addition of CENATEKs Rocket Drive to its General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule. CENATEKs Rocket Drive SSD appears to the system or application as a hard disk drive, but stores data on memory chips rather than magnetic media.
Glen Burnie, MD, September 23, 2002 - Velocite Systems-a leading producer of integration platforms and systems- today announced the addition of CENATEKs Rocket Drive to its General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule.
The Rocket Drive is a key addition to our GSA Schedule," said Bob Cook, president and CEO of Velocite Systems. Not only will it further expand our product line into the storage arena, the performance and reliability of the Rocket Drive will allow us to offer real value to our federal customers."
CENATEKs Rocket Drive SSD appears to the system or application as a hard disk drive, but stores data on memory chips rather than magnetic media. By eliminating head seek and rotational delay of spinning platters, Rocket Drive is hundreds of times faster compared to hard disk drives, and offers several magnitudes of improved I/O performance. Additionally, because Rocket Drive has no moving parts, it is extremely reliable. Designed as a system component, Rocket Drive is engineered to have the most minimal system footprint and attaches directly to the PCI bus of workstations, workgroup servers and server appliances.
We are very pleased that Velocite Systems has chosen to include Rocket Drive as part of its high performance storage solutions to the federal government," says Sherri Chien-Niclas, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at CENATEK. As a result of faster processing every IT manager is looking for greater efficiency and increased I/O performance, especially in transaction-intensive computing environments, and CENATEKs SSD technology offers the highest transaction processing performance available."
