Movie-Obsessed Engineer Leads Office Worker Exodus!
Engineer quits job to see movies during the day... turns passion into profit!
NEW YORK. Sometimes it's the pursuit of life's simple pleasures that can be the most motivating and rewarding. Walt Goodridge knows that all too well. Walt was a frustrated employee who hated his job, liked his boss even less, and, above all else, yearned for the simple pleasure of having the freedom to go see movies in the middle of the day!
In the current issue of Entrepreneur's Be Your Own Boss Magazine (Winter 2002), Walt recounts: "By all accounts I should have been happy. I was an Ivy League graduate with an engineering degree, earning a decent salary and with a bright future. The truth was, however, I hated my life. I didn't like my job, didn't have the time to do the things I really enjoyed. And, with all the debt I was in, I was living from paycheck to paycheck.
So, on a fateful day several years ago, Walt wrote his two-line resignation letter, walked it into his boss' office, walked out without it, and never looked back! Since then, in his pursuit of his passions, he's been a radio dj, poet, inventor, dabbler in multi-level marketing, launched a few websites, and has even written a few books!
In the course of his ecclectic experiences, Goodridge developed a philosophy and principles which he now uses to help others pursue their dreams, and can be found in his latest book, Turn Your Passion Into Profit: Information, Inspiration and Ideas to Help You Make Money Doing What You Love! According to Walt, "I've learned that 1. Your PASSION is part of your lifes purpose, 2. You will not be happy unless you discover it; 3 EVERYONE has a passion 4. ALL passions have value, 5. ANY passion can be turned into profit according to a formula (Principles 6 &7) which incorporates your personality, talents, history, lifestyle and something I call your "Wow factor!"
In what he calls his "Frustrated Employee Exodus", Walt has met and helped hundreds of people discover the hidden value in passions ranging from music, writing, interior design and even shopping! Many of these "Passion Seekers" create weekend streams of income with their hobbies, while others have gone on to build million-dollar enterprises!
