Top-10 World Operators in 2001 (Net Revenues)

According to InfoComs recently published Teleseeq Yearbook, NTT was still the largest operator in the world in 2001, with 30% higher revenues than the second ranked carrier.

Stuttgart, Germany -- 23th September, 2002 -- According to InfoComs recently published Teleseeq Yearbook, NTT was still the largest operator in the world in 2001, with 30% higher revenues than the second ranked carrier, the US operator Verizon Communications. These two operators kept their ranking as compared to 2000 while China Telecom (including China Mobile), showing strong growth, moved from the fifth to the third position. Vodafone also recorded strong growth and moved in the Top-10 in the eighth position. Vodafone is the only operator in the Top-10 that is almost entirely focused on mobile communications.

In the Teleseeq Yearbook, operators positions are described in terms of net revenues" rather than of turnover", in order to allow more significant comparisons regarding their real activity in telecommunications services. Practically, it means that expenses such as access charges, outgoing settlements and the like, are re-attributed to the companies originally providing the service.

This market outlook, among several others, comes from the Teleseeq Yearbook (Global Telecommunications Markets and Forecasts for 2002-2006). The Teleseeq Yearbook quantifies relative market positions for operators & equipment vendors. It covers all facets of the telecommunications, Internet and CATV markets providing graphical information, analysis and forecast over a five year period. Thus the Teleseeq Yearbook supports you to assess competitor positioning, prepare for market entry, identify future trends, and survey total market conditions.
