Trouble at the Blueberry Patch
Book Summary
Trouble at the Blueberry Patch is a 129-page young-adult Christian adventure novel set in the foothills surrounding a small rural town. Josiah, along with his cousin, Kelly, and pet Labrador, Buster, is abducted by a pair of thieves and brought to a small cabin deep in the wilderness. As Josiah tries to cope with a difficult escape, a subsequent six-day trek through the forest, and finally, a challenging rescue, he is surprised by his own ability to think and act maturely under dangerous and frustrating conditions. Josiahs faith is put to the test as they face overwhelming circumstances in their search for a way home.
The day that Josiah Kegel's mother told him that he could spend the rest of his summer vacation with his cousin in the small hillside town of Branchtown was the happiest day of his whole summer. He knew that the next few weeks would be anything but dull. What he didn't know was that, before it was over, he would be faced with the most challenging, soul-searching experience he had ever encountered in all of his thirteen years. He also learned that making responsible decisions under difficult circumstances is a very important part of growing up.
Author Biography
Lorraine Lynch Geiger
The author grew up in Paradise, Newfoundland, Canada, with seven brothers and sisters. After marrying her American husband, Kenneth, she gave up her teaching career to move to Florida. Now that the last of their five children is almost out of college she is finally finding the time to pursue her greatest love, writing. She actually wrote her first novel when she was thirteen, but had no clue what to do with it. Since then she has re-written the story. Trouble at the Blueberry Patch is the first of her books to be published. She has just finished her second full-length novel, as well as fourteen picture books. One of her major influences was her high school English-Lit teacher. He may never know it, but his weekend assignments made me realize how much I loved to write."
The author is also a prize-winning poet. At last count she had well over 75 prizes to her credit. One of her most challenging accomplishments, she admits, was that of earning her private pilot license. And ...I made a lemon soufflé once."
