LICENSEBOX reveals plans for upcoming Gary Cooper Collection

Academy Award winning Hollywood legend Gary Cooper is at center of high profile licensing and marketing program helmed by New York City based LICENSEBOX.

New York City, NY -- September 23rd, 2002 -- LICENSEBOX, the brand licensing and merchandising division of MODA Entertainment, Inc. is pleased to announce its plans for the Gary Cooper Collection, a license program inspired by the lifestyle of the Academy Award winning actor/American icon. The collection focuses on the qualities that made Gary Cooper the American Icon he is. Cooper represents the rugged Montana outdoor life and the Hollywood sophisticate all in one.

Gary Cooper is a true American icon," says William Welles, Executive Vice President of Licensebox, He was a tight lipped cowboy one minute, and an international sophisticate in the next. Most importantly, he was the everyman, just an 'Everyday Joe. Our collection embraces his virtues to create a wide range of products that will appeal to everybody."

Licensebox has spearheaded the full-scale licensing and promotional program on behalf of the Gary Cooper Estate and Seven Bar Nine, Inc. and is currently searching for strategic partners to jump on board. The Collection will span from clothing lines, furniture line, hunting and fishing equipment, a barbecue/outdoor grilling line, home accessories, a golf line, endorsements, and much more.

Licensebox plans to develop the collections clothing line as a springboard for the entire collection. The late fashion designer Bill Blass stated that in his eyes, Gary Cooper was the best well-dressed American within the past century," says Ms. Elisabeth Schwartz, Director of Marketing and Licensing, Mr. Blass went on to say that Gary was the first person to ever stonewash his jeans, and this definitely should be represented in a mens clothing line." In tandem with the clothing line, Licensebox will develop the other lines to create a wide reach of product availability throughout the nation and overseas.

To create the brand identity and logo of the Gary Cooper Collection, Licensebox utilized the legendary actors autograph as a classic and dignified emblem. We also found two hand drawn doodles of a cowboy caricature," adds Mr. Wells, One from the 1930s and one from the late 50s, and remarkably, they are almost identical. This simple drawing was clearly a favorite signature piece of Garys, and its only fitting that it is included in the Collections logo. Many people dont know that Gary Cooper was a very talented artist and illustrator. We wanted something to represent that."

This year marks a banner year for Gary Cooper. High Noon, which Gary Cooper starred in and won his second Academy Award for, will celebrate its 50th anniversary in the month of October with a special edition DVD. A feature length documentary entitled Cooper and Hemingway: The True Gen, is slated for release in the Spring of 2003, which will make its world-wide premiere at the Ritz Hotel in Paris, France in February 2003, along with a room dedication to Mr. Cooper for his role in the film Love in the Afternoon, co-starring Audrey Hepburn. Also a five city, year long, exhibition tour of Gary Cooper memorabilia and artwork is also scheduled to start Fall 2003, in Germany among other exciting high profile promotional events.
