Propylon is proud to announce that the Mission Control powered website, O2 Ireland, scoops prestigious Mobile Internet Award
O2 Ireland wins Golden Spider, Mobile Internet Award, with thanks to Propylon's Mission Control solution.
O2 Irelands portal website, http://www.O2.ie has been awarded the much-coveted Golden Spider 2002 Internet award for Best use of Mobile Internet Technology". O2 Ireland won the award, beating stiff competition from prolific websites from Ireland.com, Vodafone and Goodbody Stockbrokers.
Propylons Mission Control solution was the core solution used in the design and development of the O2 Ireland mobile website, making the website a pervasive portal and therefore empowering the mobility of the website for its users.
Using Mission Control, O2 Ireland can now automatically detect the type of device accessing the website. Mission Control renders the content to that device in an optimised manner, providing a truly mobile portal and a memorable user experience.
The winning O2 Ireland website has implemented the first phase of a strategy that will see the portal provide a number of mobile services to both the corporate and consumer sectors. Propylons Mission Control solution is a key piece of infrastructure, which will enable the roll out of these services.
Mission Control met the challenge of engineering O2 Irelands portal service to provide customers with a single access point to O2 Irelands services, irrespective of the mobile device being used to access the service, as well as supporting the introduction of the new O2 Ireland brand, which was launched in May. Moving forward, the implementation of Mission Control will also facilitate the rapid creation and delivery of new applications and services by O2 Ireland over GPRS and 3G.
The Golden Spider Awards recognises and rewards excellence in the Irish Internet Industry. While the awards have a very strong business focus, the Spiders are the only awards to encourage the important community aspects of the Internet, in Ireland.
