"You Lucky B*$#%" This is what I'm saying to myself. My band and I have had the opportunity to play some really big shows opening for some pretty incredible bands including, Bad Company, Johnny Winter and Patty Griffin. Playing 2NMC and sharing a stage with Slave To The System at the 2NMC ranks right up there on my "You Lucky B*#%*!" list! -Gadget White
During the week of October 9 - 13, Nashville will play host to some of the hottest indie bands around today. The Nashville New Music Conference will herald the debut the first live performance of Slave to the System, along with indie faves PlowMonday, Gadget White and 7 Minds. cdstreet is one of the main 2nmc sponsors and will be hosting what should be one of the hottest live rock and roll shows on Friday, October 11th at The Church in downtown Nashville. The Showcase will begin at 8pm with the Slaves taking the stage at 11:15. Admission is free with a 2NMC badge or bracelet or $7.00 cover charge.
cdstreet has pulled together an exceptional array of talent for the highly-anticipated Showcase. All the bands are eager to get out and play for the fans that have been overwhelmingly responsive to the gig. Flying in from all over the country, the Slave to the System fans thrilled to finally see their heroes live on stage in what will surely be their kick off for a national tour.
"We have been waiting for this for over a year and are really excited that Glenn Gomez and Co. at cdstreet.com were able to put this together," exclaims Scott Rockenfield, drummer and founder of the group. The former Queensryche vet and bandmates Scotty Heard (Sweaty Nipples), Damon Johnson and Roman Glick, (Brother Cane), and Kelly Gray, (also from Queensryche) are psyched about the buzz preceding the show. "The fans are going crazy and we are too," Rockenfield adds. "This is what it's all about - playing together for the fans - nothing better."
The guys from PlowMonday are gearing up for the live show, as well and couldn't be happier about it. "We are elated to be included with the likes of Slave to the System. Not many towns are filled with such musical history - we are looking forward to performing live at the Showcase." 7 Minds is just as eager, anticipating a performance that will blow the roof of the venue. "It doesn't get any better than this," they intone.
