BioconX Secures Computerworld Innovative Technology Award
National IT Magazine Recognizes BioconX for Innovation in Computer Security
MINNEAPOLIS -- September 25, 2002 -- BioconX, Inc., developer of authentication management software that fortifies network, workstation and application security, announces that it has won an Innovative Technology Award from Computerworld magazine, a leading computer industry newsweekly. BioconX is one of ten winners from among 200 nominees.
In May and June 2002, Computerworld invited corporations to nominate IT vendors that they believe offer leading-edge technology products that provide measurable payback. Vendors had to be nominated by current customers actually using their technologies. Antelope Valley Hospital, Lancaster, Calif., which has implemented BioconX software to control access to its network and sixty separate applications for 2,000 users, nominated BioconX.
Computerworld surveyed nominated vendors, and its editors reviewed the responses, which were then distributed among a 15-person panel of national IT experts for evaluation. The winning technologies were chosen on the basis of originality and innovation, demonstrable value for corporate IT operations in Fortune 1000 companies, proof of successful implementations achieving measurable payback or competitive advantage, and the ability to continue to change the way companies do business and solve technology problems into the future.
"Recognition by Computerworld signifies that BioconX offers a leading, practical solution for authenticating users in order to effectively safeguard the security of networks, workstations, and applications," says Vincent C. Hren, president and chief executive officer, BioconX. "Most importantly, Antelope Valley Hospital was willing to nominate BioconX based on their careful evaluation and successful implementation of our software."
"My team supports more than 150 Windows NT/Advanced 2000 servers, eight Unix systems, and more than 60 different application systems for our 2,000 users," says Ash Shehata, director, information systems and telecommunications, Antelope Valley Hospital. "We decided on BioconX because we proved in our pilot test that their software supports our operating systems and applies biometric authentication to all of our applications without requiring any modification of application source code."
Computerworld is the third prominent industry publication to recognize BioconX in 2002. In January, SC Magazine, a top computer security publication, designated BioconX as a "Security Company to Watch in 2002." SC Magazine called BioconX a notable innovator in information security and one of the selected security vendors proving to be "inventive in their solutions, pragmatic in their business strategies, and strong in their missions." The June issue of Healthcare Informatics highlighted BioconX as one of six "Up & Comers in Healthcare IT," noteworthy U.S. companies that are "distinguishing themselves through focused and practical technical solutions, smart acquisitions and partnerships, and most of all, clear strategies geared to carry them deep into healthcares future."
