ROSCOE LEE BROWNE AND ANTHONY ZERBE BRING BEHIND THE BROKEN WORDS" TO AN INTIMATE NYC STAGE SETTING;
SHOW TO BE TAPED FOR FUTURE TV BROADCAST
Acclaimed actors ROSCOE LEE BROWNE and ANTHONY ZERBE will bring their intimate performance of POETRY IN MOTION: BEHIND THE BROKEN WORDS" to New York City for three exclusive shows on Friday, October 4th and Saturday, October 5th. The award winning thespians collaborated to create this production, featuring works of master poets and playwrights including e.e. cummings, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Dylan Thomas and Edna St. Vincent Millay. This limited Manhattan engagement of the stage production, currently touring in select cities, will take place at Chelsea Studios, 221 West 26th Street, and will be taped by multiple Emmy award-winning producers David Stern and Greg Siers along with producers Eric Duke and Richard Duke for future television broadcast, and video distribution for schools. A meet the cast" reception will follow each evening after the performance.
BROWNE and ZERBE are Emmy award-winning and Tony award-nominated actors known for their work in theatre, film and TV. They co-created POETRY IN MOTION: BEHIND THE BROKEN WORDS" as a theatrical piece based on their passion for poetry and language, and more specifically for spoken word performances of poetry. Simply staged and fueled by the intensity of its actors, the event also features selected works by T.S. Eliot, William Butler Yeats, Derek Walcott and W.H. Auden.
Originally inspired by BROWNEs experiences with Poetry in the Schools" (a Los Angeles-based program in which actors visited colleges and high schools), BEHIND THE BROKEN WORDS" has been performed nationally by both actors for 20-plus years. The filming of this production is a realization of the desire of the actors and producers to bring the complexity and beauty of living poetry to a wider audience through television and video.
