Greenhouse Gas Solutions Showcase - Now Accepting Solutions
Recognizing the seriousness of global climate change and the power of the Internet to disseminate information, the Environmental Services Association of Alberta (ESAA) is launching a unique undertaking to promote solutions to greenhouse gas emissions.
Recognizing the seriousness of global climate change and the power of the Internet to disseminate information, the Environmental Services Association of Alberta (ESAA) is launching a unique undertaking to promote solutions to greenhouse gas emissions.
ESAA is designing an online catalogue of suppliers whose products and services reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The catalogue, which has been dubbed the GHG Solutions Showcase, can be viewed at www.ghgshowcase.com.
"The Showcase will be a virtual marketplace of sorts, where buyers in industry can locate providers with solutions to fit their emission reduction needs," explained Program Manager, Joe Chowaniec.
According to Chowaniec, "it definitely promises great benefit for a number of parties. I think purchasers and policy planners will find the Showcase a valuable and accessible information service. For suppliers, the Showcase will be another tool with which to get the word out."
"Finally and most importantly, it is our hope that the project will contribute to provincial and federal efforts to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions."
Buyers will not pay subscription fees, nor will suppliers pay to have their products listed.
Initially, the Showcase will focus on Western Canadian solutions for buyers from the petrochemical, oil and gas, and utilities sectors. However, over time ESAA plans to expand the Showcase to take in more sectors and regions.
In the interest of maintaining accurate, dependable data, ESAA will evaluate submissions according to defined quality criteria. "The reliability of the information in the database is an important issue. For this reason, we have put together a committee of recognized professionals, who will review submissions before they are included in the Showcase," explained Chowaniec.
According to Project Coordinator, Patrick von Hauff, ease of use will be an important design criterion. "We are designing [the Showcase] to be uncomplicated. If you are familiar with a standard search engine, you will find it quite straight forward."
The Showcase is now on-line and accepting solutions. To register visit: http://www.ghgshowcase.com/showcase/index.asp
Companies submitting solutions must:
- have experience in greenhouse gas emission reduction or energy
efficiency;
- offer products or services that are commercially available;
- either operate in, or offer products or services that are available in Western Canada.
