MIRACLE PREMATURE TWIN BABIES LEAD TO BIRTH OF WEBSITE
Kim Rowley, Pierce, Nebraska, gave birth to premature twin daughters in 1994. Mrs. Rowley turned to numerous resources to obtain information about twinship and prematurity. She has now compiled her findings for other parents at http://www.preemietwins.org .
Macy and Mallory Rowley were born over three months before their due-date weighing in at two pounds each, and according to Mrs. Rowley had everything go wrong that could go wrong". Rowleys main inspiration was the book The Premature Baby Book" by Helen Harrison. Between the two babies, they had almost every complication mentioned in Harrisons book. The girls spent over six months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Omaha, Nebraska.
Mrs. Rowley did extensive reading offline about prematurity and parenting multiples, but it wasnt easy finding all of the information she was wanted to inquire about. Eventually Rowley had internet access, and found surfing the net" relaxing from the stress of taking care of high-maintenance babies at home. (The babies required in-home nursing care due to being on heart monitors, oxygen tanks, nebulizer machines and multiple medicines.) The Internet became Rowleys next big source for information and designing websites became a hobby.
Thus the birth of www.preemietwins.org ; Rowley hopes that her research she has compiled, and continues to compile, will help other parents of multiples and/or parents of premature infants, so they can learn a vast amount of information from one source. Other websites that Rowley has designed can be found at www.kimrowley.com .
You will find Macy and Mallorys NICU story" also on the website, along with dozens of other stories from parents who visited the website and shared their story. You will read that Macy and Mallory, despite their rough start, are indeed miracle babies and doing well today.
