ALPHATEC SECURES SECOND TECH TRACK 100 LISTING

Alphatec Software - which provides custom-written software applications and 24-hour live-system support for the banking and financial industry - has secured a top position in the UK's most prestigious listing of successful technology companies for the second year running.

Alphatec Software - which provides custom-written software applications and 24-hour live-system support for the banking and financial industry - has secured a top position in the UK's most prestigious listing of successful technology companies for the second year running.

The Tech Track 100 survey - which appears exclusively in the Sunday Times - is prepared by FastTrack and ranks Britain's fastest growing unquoted technology companies. Companies are ranked according to their compound annual growth rate in sales between 1999 and 2001. Companies have to be registered in the UK as unquoted or ultimate holding companies. The survey criteria were based on the London Stock Exchange's techMARK definition of a technology company.

Founded in 1996, Alphatec Software - which has offices in Milton Keynes and Glasgow - specialises in the provision of fully customised software products and solutions for the banking and financial industry. Alphatec Software also provides a renowned 24-hour live-system support service. This service currently supports the cheque clearing system for two major UK clearing banks, as well as all users of Alphatec's own Orbit suite of programs.

In 1998 Alphatec developed data extraction software called Orbit, which is compatible with any platform the banking industry may utilise. It will work seamlessly alongside any operating system and integrates perfectly with any database, legacy system, or blend of legacy systems - automatically collating data and providing a unique, interactive method of accessing the valuable data that lies within a company's own systems.

It has appointed key industry professionals to help maintain its impressive growth as it rolls out new and innovative products and solutions. New Chief Executive David Grier was delighted with the achievement, commenting: "To be nominated two years in succession is a significant achievement indeed and gives a clear message as to how serious we are about moving forward into new areas within the financial sector".

Alphatec has recently started work on a project for a major high street bank to use the Orbit core architecture as the basis for an end-to-end imaging solution.
