Burbanks Largest Drycleaner Partners with Pet Orphans Fund in Adoption Event
BURBANK, CA., October 1, 2001 -- Milt & Edies, the drycleaning megastore located in the heart of Burbank, transforms their parking lot into a pet adoption spectacular with the assistance of Van Nuys-based Pet Orphans Fund on Saturday, October 12, from 10 am to 3 pm. Residents from Los Angeles County and beyond will have the chance to become proud pet parents to homeless canines and felines at this event featuring free pet gifts, music and refreshments.
A diversified selection of dogs and cats and friendly adoption counselors will be on hand at the Furry Friends Adoption Day; animals and counselors represent the Pet Orphans Fund, one of the oldest, active humane organizations in Los Angeles with a private shelter. Attendees will have the opportunity to frolic with adorable animals and begin the first phase of the dog/cat adoption process (completing forms and a brief qualification interview). Patrons not looking to adopt are still encouraged to attend; there will be free caricature drawings of humans and animals, goodie bags" for their own pets, and complimentary beverages, popcorn and other treats.

Milt himself is a proud pet owner of two dogs he and his wife adopted from local rescues.
Aspiring pet parents will be guided through a quick screening process at Milt & Edies and subject to a friendly counselor home security evaluation the following week. Qualified parents can submit a donation upon adoption approval to the Pet Orphans Fund, a tax-deductible contribution intended to cover medical and sterilizaton costs and to support the rescues operations. Pets are presented to new guardians spayed/neutered, updated with shots, micro-chipped for identification, and supplied with a new leash and packet of pet food.
Furry Friends Adoption Day takes place at the south parking lot of Milt & Edies, facing Pass Avenue (store address: 4021 West Alameda Ave., Burbank, 91505). Milt & Edies gift certificates will be presented to all persons who apply for pet ownership. Complimentary beverages and pet goodie bags are graciously donated by local businesses Priscillas Gourmet Coffees, Teas and Gifts and Peggy Woods Pet Emporium.
Pet Orphans Fund is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of companion animal welfare.
